| The Scattergood Foundation established a journalism position at WHYY, Philadelphia's public broadcasting station, dedicated to exploring issues in behavioral health. With the support of the Staunton Farm Foundation, the program has been expanded to include a second position at WDUQ in Pittsburgh. These reporters will cover emerging stories in behavioral health, with the goal of raising awareness in the region about the quality, accessibility and affordability of behavioral healthcare. The coverage aims to illuminate the underlying issues and inspire individuals and policy makers to enact system reform. The Foundation is also funding a WHYY project investigating the long term mental health effects on individuals who have experienced trauma and witnessed devastation such as the recent Haiti disaster and the attack on New York on September 11, 2001. |
